floods.

my thoughts today are with everyone in West Cumbria, and when they're not there, they're wishing and hoping and praying that the rain tomorrow isn't as bad as forecast. The towns of Cockermouth, Kendal and Keswick, and many small villages in betweeen are underwater, because of rainfall in excess of 300mm in one day. My best friend comes from Cockermouth, and in some way or another most of her family is affected, although she herself lives here in Carlisle. About 4 bridges have been broken by the force of the water, and a policeman was lost when this happened, so there are searches out for him now too. Many of my old college friends live in the area as well, and its just brought back too many memories of 4 years ago when Carlisle itself was flooded, and the student house I lived in was under 5 foot of water. So please, if you have a minute today, spare a thought for everyone in the Lakes, because its a horrible thing to happen, especially before Christmas.

(really REALLY sorry if my blog post about loving dramatic weather was a bit insensitive- it was scheduled before i read your post- I only meant in relation to the wind whistling through the cracks in my windows- hope you didnt think i was being mean.)

  4. Gosh that it is horrible... Think we're always a bit far removed from it up as Edinburgh/Glasgow don't flood. I really can't imagine what that would be like x
