Ruth 1:16-17

While on the hunt for wedding readings for a friend, I came across this one on a forum. I've not been sure about what we could have as our bible reading, but I like this. As the person who posted it on a forum where I found it said, its more about familial love than husband and wife love, but thats important too.

"See now!" she said, "your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and her god. Go back after your sister-in-law!"

But Ruth said, "Do not ask me to abandon or forsake you! for wherever you go I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge, your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Wherever you die I will die, and there be buried. May the Lord do so and so to me, and more besides, if aught but death separates me from you!"

Naomi then ceased to urge her, for she saw she was determined to go with her.

(p.s. the friend can't have religious readings at her ceremony, so this isn't technically stealing...)

  2. That is lovely, your friend wouldn't mind if you happened to choose the same readings, although don't think it will happen seeing as your friend is marrying a total weirdo whos favourite so far is the one you included as a joke! x
