home sweet future home / my own personal big and scary post.

I'm a little scared of writing this post, so please, you've been so lovely for the last year, can you be nice again just for this one?

The reason why you might have seen that I've been moving boxes today on twitter, is because well, we are moving.

The reason why I said I can do it slowly, is because we're moving to James parents house.

They aren't going to be in there still, before you ask! They are moving next door, into a building they have been converting, and we are moving into the home James spent the majority of his life in, to make it our own. Its been in the works for a long long time, but the timing has meant that this has become a wonderful accidental wedding present.

I'm not going to tell you about the monetary side of things, that's quite frankly noneofyourbeeswax, but don't go labouring under the illusion that we are spoilt little rich kids turfing our parents out of home for our own gain. We both work hard to earn our pennies, James particularly so, having spent the last 18 months working every weekend to help convert said new home next door, when he works a full week in between. And most importantly, this was their choice, their offer.

You might say that I didn't need to tell you this, that I could just have said that we bought this place, but
a - that's a lie,
b - we will know the house very well from day one, and that would show in my posts.

yes, I will post about it, that's why I'm introducing it now, because we move in a month, and it probably going to be one of the topics on the blog after my wedding. I love interiors, and decorating, I love this house, and I'd like to share some of it with you.

*runs away quickly after hitting publish*

  1. oh there is nothing to be scared of at all! i can't wait to see the place and what you do with it!

  3. sounds great :) cant wait to read about your decorating endeavours!

  4. Don't be scared. It's quite the loveliest thing. How amazing. I wish you all the luck in the world with your new place and it will be interesting how you transform it for yourselves. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  5. eeek good luck with the move. How nice to be able to do it slowly. Can't wait to hear all about it. Hoping that James gets a sit down soon!

  6. Gosh, how entirely wonderful.

So exciting. Can I be entirely jealous but in the good way! House party?!

  7. thank you all for being so lovely :)

R- not sure James will ever sit down, but at least he might have thechoice to after the wedding, our honeymoon will be his first ever 2 week holiday I htink, and he so deserves it!

anna- I am, for the first timeever, considering a house party so that the house which as been james childhood home becomes our family home instead :)

  8. Dude, no shame in this at all. The house I'm moving into is my husband's, which was originally bought by his parents. The mortgage is being repaid to the bank of mum & dad. Also, both our cars are hand-me-downs from them as well. I think it's wonderful when families van do this sort of thing, and if ever I happen to be financially well off (a girl can dream!) I hope to do the same for our kids.

And a leisurely move is not to be sniffed at!!!

  9. don't be scared, I'm 100% that if my parents had the chance to do this for me or my sister they would :) I can't wait to see your house! Good luck moving, we're moving next month too, so it should be good fun lol x

  10. I think this is wonderful! Sounds like such a good solution and is also so very exciting! A house move and a wedding sounds like hard work though, so good luck with it all and looking forward to hearing all about it :D

  11. Rebecca, don't be worried! i know a ton of people who live in homes bought by their parents, and they are not particularly rich either. Doesn't sound unusual or spoilt to me!

enjoy it! be proud! I cant wait to see how you decorate it!

  12. Sounds wonderful; oh to have a house to do up; thats going to have to be my next obsession since the wedding is over!

We should discuss the party when we meet!

  13. Sounds amazing! What a great wedding present! How sweet!

  14. And i was feeling bad about my car :P

How fabulous for you, and don't be silly, you've worked for it, and it's a present out of love, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm really looking forward to all your interiors posts!!

  15. Oooh, I think it's wonderful!! I don't think it's anything to be worried about. I most definitely can't wait to see your creative touch on the place!! I know it's going to look amazing! :)

  16. (I'm SO sorry I'm late with this one, I've been meaning to comment since you posted).

No judgy pants from my corner either. I bet you there are an awful lot of people who get a leg up onto the property ladder (as we will when the time comes).

AND, we get to see all yoru decorating adventures, which can only be a good thing!
